Grand Traverse Musicale, originally Traverse City Musicale, was founded in 1932, and has been supporting, sharing, and offering music to the community ever since.
The mission of the Grand Traverse Musicale is to support and encourage young musicians through scholarships, and to present quality musical and outreach programs.
Membership is open to everyone and consists of musicians, teachers, and music lovers in general This is a wonderful place to connect with other people who want to nurture young talent, and believe that music is the universal language and offers deep personal enrichment.
Anyone interested in joining is welcome to sign up at any event. Dues are $25.00 per year. ($27 via PayPal or charge card). Meetings, which include a musical program and tea, are held the second Thursday of the month (September - December). The business meeting starts at noon, with program and tea following. The spring meetings will feature performances by the scholarship award winners. The May meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. The June meeting will host two performance times, 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. All meetings are held at the First Congregational Church, 6105 Center Road, Traverse City.

Grand Traverse Musicale will offer scholarships in four performance categories: Strings, Winds & Percussion, Keyboard, and Voice. Scholarships will be awarded to grades 7-8 and 9-11. Seniors planning to study music in college, please see the College Awards page in the Scholarships drop-down menu above. Students may be home-schooled or enrolled in private or public school anywhere in the 5 county area (Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Benzie, Antrim, Kalkaska). They should have at least one year of music study. Vocalists need to be thirteen years of age by March 1, 2024. There are no age restrictions for instrumentalists. Only one application may be accepted per student. Two instruments may be played as long as they are within the same genre (e.g. piano and organ). Please use accompaniment if your music has accompaniment. Only those applying for College Awards need to provide copies of their music (more details in the Scholarships drop-down menu above).
The award may be used for lessons, a music camp, summer music program or instrument purchase and will be awarded when the lessons, camp or program have been arranged by the student. The award will be sent to the teacher or camp/program in the student's name.
