GT MUSICALE SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Grand Traverse Musicale will offer scholarships in four performance categories. Solo repertoire only for Strings, Winds & Percussion, Keyboard, and Voice. Scholarships will be awarded to Middle School students (grades 7-8) and High School students (grades 9-11). Only one of the pieces may be of the applicants own composition. Seniors planning to study music in college, please see the College Awards page in the Scholarships drop-down menu above. Students may be home-schooled or enrolled in private or public school anywhere in the 5 county area (Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Benzie, Antrim, Kalkaska). They should have at least one year of music study. Vocalists need to be thirteen years of age by March 1, 2025. Vocalists may submit one classical piece and one musical theater piece (no belting) or two classical pieces. There are no age restrictions for instrumentalists. 

Only one application may be accepted per student. Two instruments may be played as long as they are within the same genre (e.g. piano and organ). Please use accompaniment if your music has accompaniment. Only those applying for College Awards need to provide copies of their music (more details in the Scholarships drop-down menu above).

The award may be used for lessons, a music camp, summer music program or instrument purchase and will be awarded when the lessons, camp or program have been arranged by the student.  The award will be sent to the teacher or camp/program in the student's name. 

The deadline for all portions of the 2025 Scholarship Audition Application (application form, video, essay if applicable) is:  6pm on March 1, 2025

EXPECTATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Dress Appropriately: 

Dresses should be knee length or longer. No shorts, no jeans, no spaghetti straps. Consider this as a dress-up occasion to honor your work and the members and audiences of the GT Musicale.

Award Requirement: 

Winners are required to play at either the 6:30 or 8:00pm GT Musicale programs on June 12, 2025, and at one of our afternoon meetings (September through December and May of 2026)..

Implicit Agreement: 

Implicit in this agreement is your permission for us to use your audition video, photo or screen shot on our website or within a larger video presentation;

Show Appreciation:

Many volunteers work hard to assure that you have this opportunity. If you are awarded a scholarship, please be sure to show appreciation with a note or video response to our organization.

SUBMITTING THE APPLICATION FORM, AUDITION VIDEO AND PAYMENT IMPLIES AGREEMENT TO THESE REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS.

Applications are not complete until payment ($15 by check or $16.50 via the PayPal button below), fully completed application form and audition video have been successfully received before 6pm on March 1, 2025. College essays and music copies are also due on this same date (see below for College applicants).
